Troubleshooting SMB connections to remote folders
Error on KDS: ‘Cannot access remote folder smb://'
Possible reason 1: Routing POS Device (the Host) is turned Off or Offline
· Solution: make sure the Routing POS is available, BackOffice setup is correct, and the Internet is OK
Possible reason 2: incoming/jobs folder 'Share Permission' is not enabled on Routing POS (or the permission was lost after the POS Device re-image)
Solution: On Routing POS Device, go to the share folder where job order files are dropped
- Right click on the ‘jobs’ share folder > Properties > Sharing > Advanced Sharing: Share this folder = YES (Apply)
- Make sure it was shared to 'Everyone' user with Full Control (Sharing > Advanced Sharing > click on Permissions: Group or user name = Everyone)
Possible Reason 3: The Remote Folder is not connected or may have lost its connection. To resolve this, use the Find button to re-establish the connection. If necessary, revisit the setup steps to ensure everything is configured correctly.
Possible Reason 4: KDS Station license is being deactivated (KDS devices are deactivated after inactivity period)
Solution: please see steps under the ‘Activation failed’ error
